Marantz PM-65AV – Audio Video Amplifier
The PM65AV brings together a true audiophile amplifier and an elaborate video switching unit in one box.
Any so called AV amplifiers sacrifice audio quality for convenience. Not so the PM65AV.
Compact Disc Video offers a high horizontal resolution of 400 lines. To maintain this quality of signal on its way through the amplifier to the TV monitor great care has to be taken in the design of the video circuit.
The video amplifier circuit boards for example have been specially developed and are made from high quality polyester, the video buffer amplifiers have been designed around discrete components as off-the-shelf chips will not preserve signal quality.
This care in design improves video cross-talk by 10dB. An electronic switch also operates in the video buffer whenever the audio stage is used. This cuts out the wire connections that could radiate noise from the video circuits into the audio stage.
For improved stereo imaging and dynamics the amplifier has been designed with totally independent video and audio input circuit boards, and independent power supplies for both the audio and video circuitry.
